Cape Town International Jazz Festival Sustainable Training and Development uMculo Wam Master Classes workshop
It is about time that South African people from Kasi and other parts around Cape Town come together as one through uMculo Wam Master Classes Workshop. This workshop included the following artists
Amanda Black:
MiCasa
The Soil
The first uMculo Wam Master Classes workshop was held in Athlone Stadium on Thursday 22nd of March 2018. MiCasa shared a lot with the audience including the things they encountered along the journey finding themselves in music.
They finished off with a bang performing the song Jika live on stage blowing everyone away. The second uMculo Wam workshop was held in Langa at Guga - Sthebe. The audience could not get enough of Amanda Black and The Soil as they frequently asked questions such as:
- What inspired you to start pursuing a career in South African music specifically?
- What are the challenges you have encountered in the music industry as a female musician? (directed to Amanda Black)
- What sets you apart from any other South African musicians or group artists?
It was no surprise that people do not only love their music but they are also drawn by their unique personalities and style in general. South Africa is growing in music and workshops like these made a huge difference to those who could not afford to watch the actual Cape Town International Jazz Festival as we all know that most people in communities around Langa and Athlone are disadvantaged.
